FAQs

Responding to our client’s frustration at the spiralling cost and contrasting effectiveness of traditional Christmas cards, our little helpers here at Calm are busy finding the 24 games and videos that will be used in our 2008 Advent Calendar Online.

Just think:

You’ll be happier because...

Once you have made the wise decision to purchase your Advent Calendar Online you need only to provide us with your logo and a list of e-mail contacts you wish to invite to view it. We’ll keep these purely confidential.
That’s all you have to do. We’ll do the rest.

On the 1st of December we will e-mail a Christmas Message from your company that invites all of your e-mail contacts to view your Advent Calendar. This will begin 24 days of entertaining your clients, and their friends!

We’ve also provided a list of Frequently Asked Questions so that you’ll feel confident about how the Advent Calendar Online will work for your business:

Q. I like the design but I want to tweak the design more to reflect my brand or add more advertising for our company, can this be done?

A. The standard advent calendar package allows us to add your company logo and message to the template. However we are happy to discuss making your advent calendar bespoke and the associated cost to help you decide on the option that best suits your needs.

Q. Some people who received my advent email flyer had to click to download the images to view them. Can we fix it so that they show automatically?

A. Some people have settings on their email program that don't show images automatically for security reasons, because this is a setting on their computer we can’t override this but most people who have this setting are used to clicking to download images.  When this person visits the calendar they will be able to view the images automatically as normal as this won't have restrictions on them. We also provide an online version of the email for anyone who has a problem viewing the email.

Q. What’s the cost comparison with sending out traditional cards?

A. Well it all depends on how many cards you send out!
An average cost for traditional cards would include:
Cost of cards = minimum of £500 if you order from a catalogue
Time for admin staff to prepare = often half a day with people contributing to the decision-making process
And then there’s the cost of labels, and postage!

Q. So, for £950.00 + VAT (regular price) how does the Advent Calendar Online compare cost wise, and environmentally?

A. Cost wise, about the same, but way more cost effective because your clients and prospects see your company logo every day when the open that day’s game. They can also click straight through to your website so it becomes a valuable sales tool.

There is virtually NO environmental impact compared with paper cards and the harmful printing process.

Q. How does the Advent Calendar link to my website?

A. As part of your advent calendar package we provide you with a graphic button to put on your website so people and click through to your advent calendar and vice versa people on your advent calendar can click through to go to your corporate website.

Q. What if I want to change some of the games on the Advent Calendar Online?

A. If the standard Advent Calendar Online package doesn’t provide you with the option to change games. However we’re happy to discuss making your Advent Calendar Online bespoke. Just ask and we’ll provide you with the associated cost to help you decide on the option that best suits your needs.

Q. Can your system produce a list of who has / has not opened the Advent Calendar Online? Can we see if someone just forwards on the email rather than using the send to a friend button?

A. We can create a list of who has opened it as a CSV file that can be opened in programs like Excel. It shows the email address, date opened and how many times opened. We cannot show any email forwards, the only way it is recorded is through the 'send to a friend' function.

Q. There are people on my database that have not received the email flyer about the Advent Calendar Online.

A. Unfortunately because of junk filters on email programs not everyone will receive the email flyer. Images or even the subject title can get an email blocked. Another reason could be a typo in the email address – in this case it simply wouldn’t reach the person!

Q. Out of the people who have looked at the calendar, some of them say they cannot see all of the pages.

A. Sometimes a company’s firewall, or permissions on their server blocks files like Flash, the main file type. Once the permissions have been changed on the server the days are usually all visible. Another reason could be the flash player needs updating to the latest version.

Q. People have received the email flyer from a different address than the one specified.

A. It depends on what name you have the email address saved as in your address book. If the email address comes from "your.name@hotmail.com" it may be saved as 'Joe Bloggs' in your address book - so that is the name or address you will see. Clients who don’t have your address would see it as "your.name@hotmail.com". Another reason could be people forwarding it to each other from their own email address.
