The Solution

The Brief

The North East England Chamber Of Commerce represents over 3000 businesses in the North East of England. The chamber aims to support the growth of its members, by offering a platform for support, networking and knowledge transfer.

The Chamber wanted to increase engagement with its existing members over the Christmas period and offer rewards and incentives for these members. Along with this, the NECC were also keen to attract new members. 

They wanted the campaign to be mutually beneficial for the businesses that were part of the chamber (to help send custom their way) whilst also for providing an incentive and rewards to the public visiting the calendar.

The Solution

Advent Calendar Online offers websites the opportunity to incentivise repeat visits, through daily discounts, giveaways or through sharing exclusive content.

The chamber utilised its 24 day countdown period to help drive business for its members. Behind each door was an offer or piece of content from a different member of the NEECC. Retailers and shops would offer discount vouchers or offers, with other companies offering competitions and giveaways.

The calendar acted as an email capture device, requiring visitors to enter their email to receive their freebie or to enter a competition. This method allowed the NEECC to substantially grow their mailing list over the countdown period.

The advent calendar was hosted in an iframe on the NEECC website, meaning all traffic could be analysed in their Google Analytics account. Any link building efforts to their advent calendar URL would also positively contribute to the NEECC’s SEO.
